It is now confirm that current number 2 in the world and multiple world champion Bjorn Dunkerbeck will compete in 2011 Lancelin Ocean Classic marathon.
Bjorn has said he is excited to once again come down to Australia and looks forward to the event.
The LOC team are really excited to have Bjorn at the event as not only does it help showcase the Lancelin Ocean Classic to the world but also gives every sailor a change to race against one of the legends of the sport.
Why not register today and sail against what many say is the best windsurfer ever.
Lancelin Ocean Classic
Most of you would be aware of the Lancelin Ocean Classic, well I am happy to say that the iconic event is looking at its biggest event ever for 2011 (6-9th January). You would also be aware that this is a nonprofit event run by the Lancelin Chamber of Commerce to promote the sport of windsurfing and the town.
The 2011 Lancelin Ocean Classic entries are now open - remember the earlier you enter the better starting position you receive. The 2011 event will be the biggest in its 26 year history so if you have not entered this race why not make 2011 your year. If you have entered before, you know how good the beer tastes when you finish… not to mention the after party. For all event details please go to the new event website www.lancelinoceanclassic.com.au

NeilPryde and JP-Australia Learn to Windsurf Series
What is it?
The NeilPryde and JP-Australia Learn to Windsurf Series is a mobile event, traveling across Australia from the Sunshine Coast to Perth, teaching people to windsurf... for FREE!
With over 40 event days around the country this summer, this is your chance to try the sport. If you already windsurf, get your friends and family into it while checking out the latest NeilPryde and JP equipment.
Who is running it?
NeilPryde and JP-Australia are the leading windsurfing brands in Australia and around the world. This project is a major investment in windsurfing in Australia, and aims to create events that are highly social, exciting for all levels and styles of windsurfers, and welcoming to newcomers.
Each event is presented by the area's local windsurfing shop, so you have a local contact to go to for more lessons, great advice and the best equipment. Check the event listings for specific details including location info, event schedule and other information.
How do I get involved?
Everyone is welcome and you can just show up on the day. That said, it is a good idea to pre-register your interest with the presenting shop, whether you'd like to try windsurfing for the first time, if you want to demo some 2011 NeilPryde and JP equipment, or, if you are keen to help out. Volunteers are hugely appreciated to help out with lessons, clinics or just flipping snags on the BBQ.
How does it work?
The two main components of every event are lessons for beginners and equipment demos for experienced windsurfers. But, there will be plenty of variety between the events, with each presenting shop adding their own flavour. Some events will also include a BBQ, intermediate and advanced clinics, social racing or speed trials, etc.
Making the series of events possible is a massive custom made trailer decked out with a complete range of 2011 JP boards and NeilPryde sails, including every model in the most popular sizes (details below). Nine of 19 boards are suitable for absolute beginners and the sails are rigged on X9 and X6 components for light weight, ease of use and the best performance.

Severne Stories
Revolutionary reports from the Australian sail brand.
The third issue of Severne's Revolution Mag has just hit cyberspace and is packed full of Aussie antics from head designer Ben Severne, and his team of world-class rippers. Check it out HERE.
First up Ben discusses the finer points of sail design in terms of aesthetics in his 'Art vs Science' article, which makes an interesting read about cloth cut and the associated costs.
The next big feature sees a return of former PWA wave world champion, Scott McKercher (Starboard, Severne) aka 'Gramps' to the limelight, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons - he's back in rehab! Thankfully though, a re-think on his operation should see him hitting some thick Margaret River lips for at least another ten years! From everyone here at the PWA, we wish him all the best with his recovery.
Next up our very own lensman, JC flexes his fingers and returns to a bit of writing. After snapping his way through South America with McKercher and Timo Mullen (Starboard, Severne) pens hit the paper for reports on Chile, Brazil, and Peru.
Following that JC continues to pay homage to the Severne team by giving us the inside line on the man behind the brand, Ben Severne. JC even opens the floor to the team, allowing them to get their own back on Ben - it's a good job he lets them all go 'testing' on an almost permanent basis!
To wrap the mag up, Chris Pressler (Starboard, Severne) gets up close and personal with female slalom sensation, Morane Demont (Starboard, Severne). And aerial anarchist, Boujmaa Guillol (Starboard, Severne, Mystic) reveals some top looping tips.
Enjoy the read, HERE.

Flip a Coin - partly filmed in WA
There's a new movie coming from Europe, featuring Dutch windsurfer Sven Akerboom and Norwegian skicrosser Thomas Borge Lie.
What sets it apart from other actionsportsmovies is the fictive storyline. The crew went to WA to shoot part of the movie, where they were guided by former windsurf world champion Scott McKercher to the right spots.
The movie is expected in February 2011.

Hundreds of windsurfers expected at the 2011 Lancelin Ocean Classic
The 2011 Lancelin Ocean Classic will be held between 6th and 9th January.
The entries for the event are open. The 2011 event will be the biggest in its 26 year history so if you have not entered this race why not make 2011 your year?
The marathon is a down wind course of approximately 25 kilometers and over the years has seen from 200 to 400 starters, many entering just to try to complete the grueling course.
Wave sailing is the more spectacular discipline with over 70 competitors sailing in four man heats trying to out manoeuvre each over with the highest aerials or radical wave riding. Slalom is high speed racing, with speed, jibing and accuracy being the winning qualifications.
If you have entered before, you know how good the beer tastes when you finish.
